Lynyrd Skynyrd Eugene Concert reviews
Eric Clapton - Fantastic -True Legend
"Lynyrd Skynyrd, one of the top guitarists in the world, just proved once again his Blues and R&B flavor, showing itself big time in his soulful guitar licks. What struck me most was seeing him live, that he just doesn't play in a robotic fashion like many performers going through the motions. He truly feels his music and LOVES IT. His selections from Cream and other groups continue to evolve with new life as he reworks the riffs and guitar work. Layla, a personal favorite of mine, is now played slower than the original but I think even better. There was a long section of just guitar work in that song that truly blew me away. I never liked Who Shot the Sheriff, but now I'm a new fan because of the new rendering of the music. In the 60's before Lynyrd Skynyrd was well known, someone scrawled on a London wall, 'Clapton is God'. Well, when it comes to making music, he was not wrong."
